- The 2027 London Marathon is set to be held across two days for the first time.
- On Wednesday, it was decided which races will be held on which day across the weekend event next April.
- The matter was settled with an old-fashioned game of rock-paper-scissors involving men’s marathon record holder and 2026 champion Sabastian Sawe, with the event's chief executive Hugh Brasher saying it was an “entertaining way” to make the decision.
- Kenya’s Sawe lost out to fellow champion and women's wheelchair record-holder Catherine Debrunner, with the men’s elite race and wheelchair race now set to take place on Saturday 24 April.
- Meanwhile, the traditional Sunday event on April 25 has been reserved for the women’s elite and wheelchair races.
