Why Jesse Marsch believes winter World Cup could benefit Leeds United in early stages of season

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch believes a winter World Cup could give some of his players an extra incentive to start the season strongly. Marsch’s squad contains nine full internationals, who have represented nations featuring at this year’s World Cup finals.

Among those are United States duo Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson and Wales forward Daniel James, who have been pitted against each other in Group B.

Ramus Kristensen (Denmark), Diego Llorente (Spain) and Mateusz Klich (Poland) have all featured for their countries this year. However, Robin Koch (Germany) and Rodrigo (Spain) have a point to prove after being dropped from their respective national team squads.
