Why is Britain's Got Talent not airing tonight and when can fans watch it next?

Fans of Britain’s Got Talent will be disappointed to see it is missing from the schedules this weekend due to a major shake-up.

The long-running ITV talent show is currently in its sixteenth season - which kicked off last month and saw Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden return to judge the contestants.

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli also took a seat on the panel - replacing David Walliams who quit the show last year following a scandal in which audio leaked exposing him making crude comments about contestants.

But fans of the show will notice that the series will not be airing on Saturday night like it normally would - and here are the reasons why.

Britain's Got Talent won't air on ITV tonight (ITV)

Why is Britain’s Got Talent not on tonight?

Britain’s Got Talent has been airing on ITV on Saturday nights since the sixteenth season began back on April 15.

However, the episode showing the sixth round of auditions will not be airing on Saturday 13 May as fans might expect.

The show has been pulled from the schedules to avoid clashing with the Eurovision Song Contest final which will air on rival channel BBC One.

BGT will be only one day later than expected when it airs (ITV)

When will Britain’s Got Talent return?

Fans won’t need to wait too long to watch the next episode of BGT.

The sixth episode is instead due to air on Sunday 14 May where all the excitement and action will continue.

The episode will see auditions try their luck in front of the judges with footage from auditions in Manchester and London - with the episode airing on ITV1 at 7:40pm.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be airing on ITV instead (Publicity Picture)

What is showing on ITV instead of Britain’s Got Talent tonight?

Fans who don’t want to watch European nations battle it out for the Eurovision crown will be able to watch 2018 film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom instead.

The film stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt as dinosaur experts who try to help rescue giant reptiles from an exploding island.

This film will be followed by ITV news and then the sci fi adventure Total Recall - while Eurovision will air on BBC One from 8pm until midnight.

Alesha Dixon will still be working on Saturday night - as a presenter on Eurovision (PA)

Who is presenting the Eurovision Song Contest 2023?

While BGT fans will have to wait 24 hours longer than expected to watch their favourite shows, they will still be able to see one of their favourite judges as scheduled.

Those tuning in to the Eurovision Song Contest will notice that Alesha Dixon is among the presenters hosting the international contest.

Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham and chat show legend Graham Norton are also due to share presenting duties.

While rock singer Julia Sanina will also present the show - and will be representing Ukraine who are the official hosts of Eurovision, having won the contest last year, with the ceremony itself held in Liverpool as a safe haven while Ukraine continues to combat Russian invaders.
