Who were the Black and Tans? Joe Biden makes gaffe in Ireland

Joe Biden Black and Tans Ireland United States All Blacks IRA RIC White House

The White House has been forced to correct a gaffe made by US President Joe Biden on his visit to Ireland. Mr Biden confused New Zealand’s All Blacks rugby team with the Black and Tans, the British military force that operated in Ireland.

Mr Biden was speaking in the Windsor pub in Dundalk on Wednesday night on the first day of his three-day visit.
