The family of NFL star Calais Campbell is mourning a devastating loss after his mother, Nateal Campbell, was found dead inside her Atlanta home this week.
Authorities have charged Campbell's older brother, Ciarre Campbell, in connection with the death. According to police, Nateal Campbell, 71, was discovered unresponsive during a welfare check at her townhouse in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon.

What happened in Atlanta?
According to Atlanta police, officers responded to Nateal Campbell's home after relatives became concerned about her wellbeing. Authorities conducted a welfare check at the residence in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police said they encountered a man who had barricaded himself inside the home, prompting officers to enter the residence and take him into custody.
The suspect was later identified as Ciarre Campbell, the older brother of Calais Campbell.
The 41-year-old was subsequently booked into jail and faces charges including murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony.
Officials have said the investigation remains ongoing.
According to reports, police had previously responded to the residence regarding incidents involving possible mental health concerns.
“A brief look into the history does show some calls back in April dealing with this location a possible arson incident,” Lt. Christopher Butler told WSB-TV.
“There have been some indications of possibly some mental health issues with an individual.”
Authorities have not publicly disclosed additional details about the circumstances surrounding Nateal Campbell's death.
