BBC's MasterChef: The Professionals will crown its 2022 winner tonight [Sunday, December 11] after whittling down the contestants to just three finalists. Those left in the competition will take on their last challenges in order to impress Gregg Wallace, Marus Wareing and Anna Haugh, who replaced long-serving judge Monica Galetti for the new series.
The new season started on Wednesday, November 2 with the first round of heats and a whopping 32 new chefs all hoping to impress in the kitchen, but after six weeks of challenges, just three contestants remain in the competition.
This year Wales had not just one chef, but two brilliant chefs to represent our gorgeous country. Mathew Griffiths from Chester, who was a private chef on a superyacht, appeared in episode 11 but didn't quite make it through to the quarter-finals after some issues with his dessert. Meanwhile, Owen Vaughan secured a place in the final six after wowing with a roast duck dish. The 25-year-old from Barmouth, who was the Head Chef at Penmaenuchaf Hotel in Snowdonia when filming took place, said: "Unbelievable, MasterChef finalist - I can tick that one off. I believe in myself now. I'm here on merit. I'm buzzing. It's crazy." Unfortunately, Owen's journey ended when he burnt a seabass dish. You can read more about Owen's journey here.
And while the Welsh contestants didn't quite make it to the final, three chefs did. Here's everything you need to know about the finalists and schedule as Masterchef prepares to crown its 2022 champion.
Who are the MasterChef: The Professionals finalists?
Sagar Massey, Nikita Pathakji and Charlie Jeffreys are the three chefs in the final. It comes after James Checkley was voted off in the semi-finals earlier this week.
The final episode will see the talented chefs cook a three-course meal for the MasterChef judges, with just three hours to produce an impressive starter, main and dessert. BBC MasterChef said: "It all comes down to this. Three cooks, three courses, one champion."
In a first look at the finale, the narrator can be heard saying: "It's the MasterChef: The Professionals Final. After six weeks of intense competition, only the three most exceptional chefs remain."
Meanwhile, the judges spoke of their expectations with Gregg stating: "This is going to be the culinary Clash of the Titans."
As Marcus added: "What we're looking for now is pure brilliance," and Anna said: "Today, I'm expecting them to blow us away."
When is the MasterChef: The Professionals final?
