After failing to defeat Real Sociedad by two goals, Manchester United are the playoff round of the Europa League after finishing second in their group.
United have now unfortunately been drawn against Barcelona, the team that many fans agreed were the hardest possible draw in the competition. Of course, many fans have pointed out that this ironically means that after a transfer never materialised in the summer, Frenkie de Jong will eventually play at Old Trafford this season.

When are they played?
The first legs of the playoff round will be on 16th February, with the second leg being played on 23rd February. The seeded teams such as United will be at home in the second leg.
What happens next?
The eight winners from the playoff rounds will join the eight group winners for the round of 16. The losers will be out of Europe for the rest of the season.
