A fire which broke out in Gateshead overnight is still ongoing hours on.
Emergency crews attended the scene at Durham Road at around 12am on Tuesday morning following reports of 'loud bangs like fireworks' from members of the public in Birtley.
Nine fire engines and an aerial platform attended the fire over the course of the night.

What have the fire service said?
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service have said that crews are still dealing with the fire Birtley with pumps still at the scene. The fire is still ongoing and is being treated as a protracted incident. Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.
What have the police said?
Northumbria Police described the incident as "an evolving situation" and the cause of the fire is currently unclear. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
Northumbria Police Road Safety have also said that the road is set to be closed until mid-morning.
How is the incident affecting the roads?
The A167 Durham Road remains closed in both directions due from Vigo Lane (the Barley Mow Inn) to Harras Bank.
Traffic has been affected between Chester-le-Street and A1 J66 (Bowes Incline) since the nine fire engines attended this morning.
The delays have also impacted on public transport services in the area with a diversion now in place for the Go North East operated bus service 21.
What have residents said?
One resident in Vigo told Chroniclelive how she thought pyrotechnics were being let off until she realised there was a fire raging just five minutes from her home.
Charlotte Henderson recalled how she was in bed when she found the scene escalating in front of her eyes.
The operations manager for a veterinary company said: "I was in bed and I actually thought it was fireworks because I could hear constant banging.
"I went to the back window and all I could see was black smoke coming over the houses. That's when I started to ask on Twitter, 'What's happening?'
"Then I saw the fire and it was getting worse and worse and worse. You could see the smoke changing, it was getting more and more black."
