One of the UK’s most high-profile court cases in recent years has now been turned into a Channel 4 drama. Created from the real court transcripts, Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama will bring viewers all the unbelievable moments from the 2022 court case that kept the public and media gripped.
Dubbed the Wagatha Christie case, the dispute between footballers wives Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy unfolded on social media in 2019, when Rooney claimed her fellow 'WAG' had been selling stories to the press. Vardy firmly denied the accusations and subsequently sued Rooney for libel in an audacious case that made headlines around the world.
Now, less than six months since a judge ruled in Rooney’s favour, the events surrounding the case have been dramatised in a two-part film. It will recreate the high stakes High Court defamation case and explore the huge impact it had on the lives of the two women at its core.
