What time and TV channel Ireland's friendly with Lithuania is on today

The Republic of Ireland wrap up the international window with the visit of Lithuania to Lansdowne Road on Tuesday night.

A late Alan Browne header saw Stephen Kenny’s side earn a 2-2 draw with world number one Belgium on Saturday evening, while Chiedozie Ogbene was also on target.

Once regular opponents in the mid-nineties, it’s the first time Ireland and Lithuania have met in 25 years and fifth game overall between the sides.

Lithuania were in Ireland’s qualifying group for the 1994 World Cup and again for the 1998 World Cup, with Ireland winning three and drawing once.

The Balkan side come into the game on the back of a narrow 2-1 friendly win over San Marino on Saturday with goals from Augustinas Klimavicius and Linas Megelaitis.

They finished bottom of a World Cup qualifying group containing Switzerland, Italy and Northern Ireland, their sole points coming from a home win over Bulgaria.

Who are they key players to watch?

A few changes are expected for Ireland but one man likely to feature at some point is Jason Knight , following from his start against Belgium.

The Derby County man was tidy and impressive before making way in the closing stages and will look to have more of an influence in the final third against a lower-ranked side.

For Lithuania, Fedor Cernych of Jagiellonia Bialsytok (formerly home of Cillian Sheridan) is the main attacking threat from midfield.

With more than 70 caps, and eleven goals, to his name, Cernych is one of the most experienced in the team and his brace helped Lithuania to that 3-1 win over Bulgaria.

Quotes Corner:

"Stephen's always very firm that caps aren't given out (casually), I very much feel that way as well,” said Ireland assistant coach Keith Andrews.

"You have to earn them but equally you have to reward players who have been professional around maybe not being selected, not coming into the (Belgium) game and understand that disappointment. So, yeah, there will be changes.”

Lithuania boss Valdas Ivanauskas: “The Irish side it doesn't surprise me. We know what the level is in the UK, all the players are playing at the highest level, [but] maybe surprised by their mobility.

“The style of the game has changed, but their game is completely given from birth, they have to be proud of that. The coach had praised the traditions of rival sports.”

"I don't think there will be any problems with the concentration itself, because the San Marine players felt that they were stronger.

“But we are not at a level where we can play with one foot for 90 minutes, we don't have that, but the players felt it.

“We all understand what we are playing against, but what worries us most is physical fitness. If you’re not physically ready, the longer the match lasts, the more mistakes you make, the more gaps there are, the more worrying it gets.”

Betting:

Republic of Ireland 11/4; Draw 8/1; Lithuania 2/5.
