What Luis Enrique has done to convince Todd Boehly he should be next Chelsea manager

Luis Enrique is one of the names heavily linked with the vacant Chelsea manager's job following the weekend sacking of Graham Potter. Bruno Saltor has been placed in interim charge, but Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have set out plans to appoint a new manager soon with meetings taking place in the coming weeks.

The largest development in the Blues' pursuit of a new head coach seem to arrive on Wednesday morning involving Enrique. The former Spain boss is in London to undergo talks with the club regarding their managerial role, football.london understands.

Julian Nagelsmann looked to be the favourite for the position, ahead of Mauricio Pochettino and outsiders Ruben Amorim and Oliver Glasner, but Enrique has now seemingly overtaken the former Bayern Munich boss.

While meetings are taking place, Chelsea still have a Premier League season to finish and despite dismissing Potter, their fortunes did not get any better during Tuesday's clash with Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp put out a heavily-rotated side, and while Chelsea dominated proceedings, they were unable to find that clinical touch in front of the goal which certainly sums up this campaign. The Blues have just scored just 29 goals in as many games, failing to score in the first half at Stamford Bridge in their last eight games.

With a monumental Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid to come in the next week, Chelsea will likely want to appoint a permanent manager soon. And that could certainly be Enrique after it seems he has gone to extreme lengths to prove he is the right man to lead Chelsea's project.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Enrique's representatives sent Chelsea a full PowerPoint presentation that very specifically outlines every detail about his vision and his plans for each individual player.

Those deciding on the next man at the Chelsea helm will likely be hoping that someone is in charge by March 12 as that is the date for the Blues' first leg against Madrid. At the weekend, Chelsea travel to Wolves, but it is unclear at this moment whether or not Bruno will remain in control for the clash at Molineux.
