Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk allegedly stepped on the penalty spot before Jarrod Bowen's missed spot-kick.
West Ham United were awarded a penalty in the first-half at Anfield after a lengthy VAR process following a high from from Joe Gomez.
Bowen stepped up, only to see his effort saved by Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson, keeping the Reds 1-0 up at half-time Darwin Nunez opened the scoring.

Speaking on Amazon Prime Sport, ex-Liverpool and England winger Steve McManaman said he thinks the Dutch defender may have deliberately scuffed the penalty spot but that Bowen should have scored.
"A scuff or a step? I think he steps on it. He should’ve scored his penalty, he does stand on the penalty spot but he should’ve scored," said McManaman.
Lucas Paqueta missed out on the match while Flynn Downes made his first Premier League start as David Moyes' side looked to maintain their five-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
