What James Milner did during Kostas Tsimikas winning penalty in Liverpool FA Cup win over Chelsea

Liverpool are the winners of the FA Cup after beating Chelsea in a penalty shootout - but a moment from James Milner has caught the eye.

The Reds have won the prestigious trophy for an eighth time at Wembley Stadium. The tie finished goalless after extra time, with another shootout needed to decide the winner just like the Carabao Cup final earlier this year.

Milner, Thiago Alcantara, Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota all scored their spot-kicks, with Sadio Mane missing his. Kostas Tsimikas stepped up to score the decisive penalty to win the shootout.

In footage that has emerged in the aftermath of the shootout, it shows the Liverpool players’ reactions during Tsimikas’ winning spot-kick. While most were anxiously watching the penalty, Milner was doing the opposite.

While his team-mates were watching Tsimikas’ penalty, Milner was facing the other way and not looking, instead facing the Liverpool fans at the opposite end of the stadium. When the celebrations started among Reds supporters, Milner leapt off his feet in delight and went over to join the celebrations.
