What happens when middle-aged adults take creatine for 12 weeks? New study finds muscle gains even without structured exercise

Creatine has long been associated with weight training, competitive sports and gym routines. However, recent research at Texas A&M University shows that it may have an impact on more than just active people. Healthy adults aged between 45 to 65 years who consumed creatine for three months increased their lean mass and demonstrated improvement in measurements of strength irrespective of whether they were involved in any systematic exercise programs or not.

The study was recently published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition . It found that those taking creatine along with systematic exercises and reduced calories had greater gains in strength along with increased lean mass and loss of fat mass.
