West Lothian music duo, LF SYSTEM, continue to take the UK charts by storm with their gold certified single, ‘Afraid To Feel’, which could be the longest running UK number one by any Scottish artist in six years if they hold the spot for the rest of the month.
The pair knocked 80s icon, Kate Bush, off the top of the charts back in June, where she saw a three-week run with her 1985 single ‘Running Up That Hill’.
And so far the West Lothian duo have reached over 45 million UK streams.
The song has just hit one million Global Shazams and is now on track to claim the longest running number one Dance Record ever.
Now preparing to secure their sixth week at the top - if the pair are able to hold the spot until the end of August they will be the first Scottish artist to hold the spot for as long in six years.
The song has dominated the British airwaves since it was released - being crowned as Clara Amfo’s Hottest Record on Radio 1’s Future Sounds before being named as Radio 1’s Tune of the Week.
It then went on to become the most played track on Radio 1, Kiss FM and Capital - with millions of video views on TikTok.
They’ll be in for some tough competition however, as they hope to fend off the platinum-selling Beyoncé after she released her new album ‘Renaissance’ at the end of last month.
The pair have taken the UK music scene by storm - after only meeting two years ago, and quitting their day jobs just two months ago.
Conor Larkman and Sean Finnigan - or LF SYSTEM as they’re known in the scene, met at a club night in Edinburgh playing back to back sets, and quickly joined forces to release their own tracks.
Since then their latest single, Afraid To Feel, has become a staple of festivals and clubs up and down the nation since its release at the beginning of summer.
LF SYSTEM commented: “We would never have imagined in our wildest dreams how amazing this journey would be.
“We only left our day jobs a couple of months ago and now we have a Gold certified single and are flying the flag for Scotland with the longest running Scottish #1 in quite some time.
“To be in the same conversation as Lewis Capaldi and one of our idols, Calvin Harris, as well as competing with the likes of Beyoncé, Drake, Kate Bush, George Ezra and loads more of massive international artists, is a real dream come true.”
Their first single ‘Dancing Cliché’ was a favourite with names like Ewan McVicar, Elliott Adamson, Danny Howard and TSHA, and later received a full commercial release through Warner Records and spent 6 weeks on the Radio 1 playlist.
The rest of the year holds LF SYSTEM’s first ever sold out London headline show at Night Tales, a special guest appearance alongside Gorgon City at their Realm tour in Liverpool and a set at The Warehouse Project’s legendary Halloween party in Manchester.
