Officers in West Lothian are appealing to the public in order to help in an enquiry after a man was seriously assaulted.
The incident is believed to have occurred at around 1pm on Monday October 3 in West Calder.
A 40-year-old man was walking near to the Kirkgate area in the village that is located four miles west of Livingston. Police Scotland say that the man was approached by another male before being violently assaulted.

The victim had to be taken to St John’s Hospital for treatment on the injuries that he sustained from the attack. Officers are asking for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the assault to get in touch with them.
Detective constable Robert Gilmour of CID said : “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the assault to get in touch with police. Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 1553 of Monday, 3 October, 2022.”
