Louise MacDonald, Learning and Skills Manager at West Lothian College, said: ”The event at West Lothian College is a great opportunity to learn how Foundation, Modern and Graduate apprenticeships impact positively on individuals and business.
“I would encourage anyone interested in the potential of apprenticeships to come along.
“We will showcase successful apprentices, explain the different apprenticeships on offer and enable local businesses to network with each other and potential apprentices.”
Apprenticeships provide opportunities for people to gain skills that will support them in work. Through apprenticeships, employers can be sure of a workforce that has the skills needed now and in the future.
There are three types of apprenticeships – foundation, modern and graduate. A foundation apprenticeship provides fifth and sixth year school pupils with hands-on experience and a
head-start into a career with industry-recognised qualifications.
A modern apprenticeship enables an employee to learn while they earn by working towards a recognised qualification, while a graduate apprenticeship allows employees to undertake a degree while working.
West Lothian College’s event on 7 March starts at 2.30 pm and will include talks from current apprentices, employers and college staff. Attendees will also be able to check out workshop facilities at the college.
