It’s been a soggy end to a sparky series, an unfitting send-off for three coaches – the interim boss Marcus Trescothick, who, like Lee Carsley, will now hand over to a more lasting successor, plus the fielding coach Carl Hopkinson and the spin-bowling coach Richard Dawson. But they can all get on the plane tomorrow knowing that they have turned things round after a disappointing ODI series. England’s T20 team are back in business. Next up, in just ten days, the Test team begin a series in New Zealand.
