West Ham player ratings vs Chelsea: Industrious Tomas Soucek at his best all season

Impressive: After a difficult season, Tomas Soucek played well against Chelsea

West Ham drew with Chelsea at the London Stadium to kick off a busy Premier League weekend.

The impressive Joao Felix had put the Blues ahead before Emerson Palmieri pulled one back for the home side, who were unlucky to see a late Tomas Soucek goal ruled out.

Here’s how David Moyes’ side rated at the London Stadium…

Lukasz Fabianski 6

Made smart low saves from Madueke and Felix. No chance with Felix goal.

Thilo Kehrer 6

Part of a backline cut open by Chelsea movement early on but eventually settled.

Angelo Ogbonna 6

Like Kehrer, struggled with darting runs of Blues forwards in early exchanges.

Nayef Aguerd 6

Saved by a marginal offside call when failing to intercept James pass to Havertz early on and let Felix run off his back for opener. Vital covering tackle on Chilwell.

Vladimir Coufal 7

Continued his upturn in form with cross that led to opener. Booked.

Declan Rice 7

Billed clash with Fernandez did not quite materialise but read the game superbly. Offside in build-up to Soucek would-be winner.

Lucas Paqueta N/A

Injured in a fall inside five minutes and did not make it as far as the 15th.

Emerson 7

Not the cleanest finish, but a crucial goal against his former club. Fine delivery for disallowed goal late on.

Jarrod Bowen 6

Beaten to ball by Mudryk in build-up to opener. Smart flick set up Emerson equaliser.

Michail Antonio 6

Almost scored with clever backheel and generally caused problems with strength.

Said Benrahma 5

Threatened to run in behind Thiago Silva in first-half but Brazilian recovered well. Quiet.

Substitutes

Tomas Soucek (Paqueta 14’) 8

On as an early substitute and produced perhaps his best display of the season. Industrious and an aerial threat. Had late goal disallowed.

Flynn Downes (Benrahma 67’) 6

Danny Ings (Antonio 67’) 6

Ben Johnson (Aguerd 80’) N/A

Unused: Hegyi, Anang, Fornals, Lanzini.
