West Bengal: Tollygunge man drowns in Digha

DIGHA: Kalyan Das (48), a resident of Tollygunge, drowned in the sea at Digha around noon on Sunday after he ignored the local administration's warning against going into the water.

Das, a trader, had gone to Digha with four friends. Due to the choppy waves, the tourists were asked not to venture out into the sea. While his friends were sitting on the shore of Old Digha, Das ignored all warnings and tried to take a dip and was carried away by the waves. Spotting Das drowning, his friends started shouting for help and alerted the local life guards who brought Das back. But he was declared dead at the Digha hospital. Later, his body was sent for autopsy.
