Weight-loss pill Foundayo is now available in UK pharmacies

  • A new daily weight loss and type 2 diabetes pill called Foundayo will be available in UK pharmacies from Monday.
  • Manufactured by Eli Lilly, Foundayo was authorised by the MHRA, making the UK the first country in Europe to approve the treatment.
  • The daily GLP-1 medication is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 alongside a weight-related condition.
  • Pharmacy leaders highlighted its importance for patients unable or unwilling to take injectable weight loss treatments, while warning against counterfeit pills.
  • Eli Lilly is working with NHS spending watchdog NICE regarding a potential rollout on the health service in England.
