Weather today October 18: IMD forecasts heavy rain, thunderstorms across southern states; check latest state-wise updates

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across several southern states from October 17 to 23, with isolated very heavy rain expected in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. The forecast also warns of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in several areas, while strong surface winds are likely in Andhra Pradesh. Coastal regions of Karnataka and Kerala, along with Lakshadweep, are under a fishermen warning as squally weather is expected over the Arabian Sea.
