Weather today, July 21: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fresh surge in monsoon activity across large parts of the country, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning to several states over the next six to seven days. After a brief lull, the southwest monsoon is expected to regain strength, with widespread rain likely over north, east and northeast India.
