Claudio Ranieri is on the brink of being sacked by Watford as the club look for their third head coach of the season.

Watford were beaten 3-0 by relegation rivals Norwich on Friday night, with the manner of the defeat particularly alarming.

Ranieri is now on the cusp of being dismissed after a disastrous spell in charge that has seen him lose 11 of his 14 games at the helm.

Watford are back in action on February 5, when they have another huge relegation six-pointer against Burnley.

A new head coach is expected to be in charge for that game, with Watford’s model usually involving them swiftly appointing a successor once one manager has been sacked.

The club are looking for their third head coach of the season already after also parting company with Xisco Munoz earlier in the campaign.

It remains to be seen who Watford will move for, but former Granada boss Diego Martinez is someone held in high regard by Watford’s owner, Gino Pozzo.

Martinez is currently out of work, however he may have reservations over taking the job given Watford have now slipped into the relegation places for the first time this season.
