Watch Josh Doig score Verona screamer as former Hibs star builds on Scotland call with venomous volley

Josh Doig has continued to settle in nicely to life in Serie A with a stunning volley for Hellas Verona.

The left-back joined the Italian side in the summer from Hibs as he joined Aaron Hickey and Lewis Ferguson in becoming young Scottish players to try their hand abroad, with Hibees Scottish Cup hero Liam Henderson also in the country. Doig was part of Steve Clarke's Scotland squad last week and has displayed upon his return to domestic duty the abundance of options the head coach has at his disposal in left-back.

A cross into the Udinese box was headed high into the air by the away defence and it looked as if they had done enough to clear danger, but Doig was having none of it. He hit a first-time volley with the outside of his boot into the bottom corner, curling past the goalkeeper and into the net to spark scenes of jubilation.

Doig finished off that magic moment - his second strike in Italy - with a perfect kneeslide before being mobbed by teammates. They went into the half-time break leading 1-0 thanks to Doig's strike.
