On the Houston Texans’ opening drive of the second half, Davis Mills found tight end Jordan Akins for a 39-yard gain to get the offense’s gears turning against the Las Vegas Raiders. The play set Houston up for a field goal that accounted for the first score of the third quarter.
Check out this highlight reel play below, and notice Akins’ speed once he had the ball in his hands:

As pointed out by the team in their Tweet that showcased the play, this effort came on what has been deemed “National Tight End Day” around the NFL. Akins is now the team’s leading receiver by a relatively wide margin and is set up to be one of Houston’s brightest stars of the game if he can make a few more impactful plays.
After the ensuing field goal, the Texans would take a narrow three-point lead that they hope will hold for long enough to close out the Raiders to advance their 2022 record to 2-3-1.
