American comedian Carrot Top has cancelled his Las Vegas show after being rushed to hospital.
The 61-year-old, who was born Scott Christopher Thompson, is currently recovering in hospital after being admitted on Friday night.
He had been due to perform at the Luxor in Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday, however the gigs were cancelled as a result.
Thompson’s representative said in a statement to TMZ: “Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs.
“His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”
MGM Resorts International, which owns the Luxor, added: “Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering.
“We are thinking of him and wish him strength as he receives the care and support he needs.”
The Independent has contacted Thompson for comment.
Known for his prop comedy and curly red hair, Thompson hit the US comedy circuit in the Nineties, appearing on shows Star Search and Comic Strip Live.
His residency at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas is one of the longest-running in comedy, with Thompson having been performing there since November 2005.
Over the last 30 years, Thompson has filmed multiple stand-up specials and made guest appearances on Family Guy, Scrubs, Reno 911! and most recently Hacks in 2024.
With tonight’s show no longer taking place, Thompson is set to next perform at the Luxor on Monday 21 September. It is unknown whether the show will still go ahead.
The comedian last posted to social media on Friday, sharing an old photo of himself beside a bright orange dwarf race car featuring his face. “Just your average Thursday commute to the Luxur. #TBT,” he wrote.
Fans have taken to the comments to share messages of support, with one writing: “Scott we love you dude. Praying for you.” Another commented: “Sending love, hugs and prayers.”
Back in 2023, the comic witnessed the viral American Airlines flight incident, where a woman appeared to accuse a fellow traveller of being “not real”. In the viral video, a woman could be seen walking down the aisle of the full flight while screaming that a fellow passenger was “not real”.
Thompson later revealed that he was on the same flight, claiming that it started because the woman lost her earbud. “We’re all stuck in Dallas now because of her!!” he wrote on Instagram at the time.
