The comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was taken to hospital following what was reported as an apparent suicide attempt, though his team has not addressed the specific circumstances.
Publicist Jami Schlicher told TMZ: 'Mr Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs.' She added that his family and those closest to him are 'deeply grateful for the concern and prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.'
For context, the 61‑year‑old has held one of the longest‑running residencies on the Strip, headlining the Luxor's Atrium Showroom since November 2005. He typically performs Monday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and his Friday night set was pulled hours before curtain.

His attorneys had reportedly sought $7.5 million (£5.6 million) to settle claims they framed as sexual exploitation, though that figure has not been tested in court and Thompson has not responded publicly to Defazio's specific claims.
None of this has resulted in a criminal charge against Thompson.
