Warriors ‘Bracing’ for GM Bob Myers to Walk Away Amid Stalled Contract Negotiations

The Warriors could see some major changes to the front office this offseason, including the potential departure of GM Bob Myers.

According to Shams Charania of the Athletic, Golden State and its general manager have not had substantial contract negotiations in recent months, leading both sides to be “bracing for the likelihood” that Myers leaves the organization in the offseason.

Myers’s contract with the Warriors is due to expire on June 30. According to Charania, the two sides last exchanged offers “several months ago,” but nothing was agreed upon.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported earlier this week that the Warriors submitted multiple offers to Myers which would make him “one of the league’s highest paid executives.”

An official announcement regarding his future with the franchise is expected in the next few weeks.

Myers has been the GM of the Warriors since 2012, having overseen four championships turning his tenure with the franchise.

It’s not necessarily the Warriors’ contract offer that reportedly has Myers considering an exit. Instead, Charania reports that Myers could be lured away by offers from private equity funds or a role within another professional sports league.

This latest tidbit comes just after Marc J. Spears reported that Myers was not in attendance for the league’s GM meetings on Tuesday, with the Warriors instead being represented by president of basketball operations Mike Dunleavy Jr.
