Warning to car owners in one area of Merseyside

A warning has been issued by police to vehicle owners in one Merseyside area.

Taking to social media, Merseyside Police shared advice following a rise in burglaries and thefts from cars on the Wirral. In particular, the areas of Noctorum and Bidston were hit in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Car owners were advised to make sure their vehicles were locked, and people were reminded to keep their windows and doors locked through the night.

In a statement, police said: "We have noticed an increase in burglaries and thefts of motor vehicles in the Bidston and Noctorum areas during the early hours of the morning. Please can you ensure that your homes are secure by locking all doors and windows, as well as your motor vehicles."

Figures from police show that across Liverpool 2,193 criminal incidents were reported per 10,000 vehicles, with two out of every 10 registered cars being subjected to some form of criminal attack. However, the Wirral is actually statistically the safest area for your car.

The postcode area of CH61 registered 31 crimes per 10,000 cars – a reduction of 98% in comparison to the centre of Liverpool.
