Warning criminals are exploiting AI after record number of UK fraud reports

A record number of fraud reports were made to the UK’s database in 2025, as criminals continue to take advantage of artificial intelligence.

Fraud prevention service Cifas warned that nearly 445,000 reports were filed by its members last year, which included a quarter of a million incidents of identity theft, the most common type of fraud.
