Interior designer Joanna Gaines is known for her covetable style that's a blend of chic modern with rustic farmhouse. Her own home in Waco, Texas is the perfect example of this balance of styles and space that feels both cozy and inviting yet effortlessly sophisicated.
It's a timeless interior design style many of us strive to achieve. Lucky for us, Joanna is sharing her styling secrets in her recently launched Masterclass. Joanna has teamed up with the advice platform to offer an inspiring guide of bespoke design advice and supportive guidance for those who wish to design a dream home.
It can sometimes be challenging to 'design a home that tells your story' a Joanna puts it, a goal which often gets lost in the midst of home renovating and refurbishing. However, with Joanna's practical direction, you'll have a home that's 'uniquely yours' in no time at all. Joanna's class is available to stream in 19 concisely themed chapters on the Masterclass site.
It's important to stay true to yourself and your story when designing, but it can be difficult to create a space that feels cohesive while remaining individual and thoughtful and that's where Joanna's new Masterclass can help.
The 'dream home' title is used when the balance of character and practicality are harmoniously blended, and if you've been following Joanna's design career, you'll know she has a timeless, inviting and (most importantly) characterful home. Achieving your intended design goal may seem a long way off, but with detailed, custom advice from an industry expert, the process has never been easier, and far less daunting too.
Joanna understands interior design can be an overwhelming topic with so many choices at every step of the process. 'What I see a lot of times is people who spend a lot of money and think it’s going to make me feel happier and it rarely works,' explains Joanna. 'For the first time, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my design process. The thing that I really emphasize is that feeling of "I don’t know how to get started and I feel stuck" and that’s where I really want to help.'
In her classes, Joanna shows how to combine colors, textures, and layering techniques during the design process with a simple yet effective 'three-word concept', used for identifying how you want a space to feel. Members can also learn the importance of having a focal item, what she calls 'the hero' that gives a room purpose and a starting point for the entirety of the design.
A key lesson that Joanna teaches is shifting the overall outlook on large-scale design. Don't approach the process with nit-picking details in mind, but focus on the bigger picture, the goal is to successfully nail the overall feel of your home.
Joanna explains, 'I never think about, "Ok how many sofas, how many chairs", that’s not first in my mind.' Instead, think about how you want the space to work. 'What are the areas where people can gather and be together? It’s about getting creative with your furnishings. It’s getting creative with your layout.'
Joanna really emphasizes that designing a dream home doesn't need to 'break the bank', which can really put you off wanting to start a home project, but rather Joanna's focus in her Masterclass is to 'Create a story, instead of stuff.’
Joanna says, 'Having a space that feels uniquely yours is truly invaluable' and she couldn't be more right. If you're looking to create an inspiring and individual space, head over to Masterclass so Joanna can guide you through the process.
