A walker has died in a horror fall during a weekend away in the Peak District.
Emergency services were called to reports of a hiker being knocked unconscious on a footpath above Speedwell Cavern in Derbyshire at around 7pm on Saturday. Edale Mountain Rescue Team said a group of friends were visiting the area over the weekend when one slipped and "tumbled a distance".
The walker suffered a serious head injury during the fall and despite the best efforts of friends, rescuers and paramedics, they were pronounced dead at the scene, the Mirror Online reports.
