Wales Women to face New Zealand in World Cup quarter-finals after England hammer South Africa

Wales Women have progressed to the last eight of the World Cup courtesy of England's thrashing of South Africa.

The Red Roses' 75-0 humbling of the Boks means Ioan Cunningham's players will face hosts New Zealand in the quarter-finals, with their fixture taking place next weekend.

Wales' win over Scotland and the losing bonus point picked up against Australia left them with an agonising 24-hour wait to see whether they would progress to the knockouts.

Following the England v South Africa result, the are now locked in as the tournaments reaches the business end.

The full draw sees France take on Italy, Canada play USA and England up against Australia, with Wales facing the daunting task of number-one seeds New Zealand.

The Black Ferns dismissed Wales 12-56 earlier in the competition, running in 10 tries in the process, with the eighth seeds now needing to pull off the shock of the tournament to make it through to the last four.

The winner of New Zealand v Wales would face the victors in the France v Italy clash, while Canada or USA will come up against either England or Australia.

New Zealand v Wales takes place on Saturday, October 29, at Northland Events Centre, Whangarei. Kick-off is at 7.30am (UK time).

Quarter-final draw: New Zealand (1) v Wales (8), France (4) v Italy (5), Canada (2) v USA (7), England (3) v Australia (6).
