Good Morning Britain's Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid were in disbelief as the costs involved in the Wagatha Christie trial were revealed.
The trial for the bitter legal battle between the two footballer's wives is set to continue today. The internet exploded on October 9, 2019, when Mrs Rooney accused Rebekah Vardy's Instagram account of selling stories about her.
Mrs Rooney earned the nicknamed "Wagatha Christie" when she conducted a month's long sting operation to catch the person out who she believed was selling stories about her to The S*n. After blocking "everybody but one person" from viewing her Instagram stories, Mrs Rooney concluded the source could only be the account of Mrs Vardy.

Mrs Vardy, 40, who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, denies the accusations and is suing Mrs Rooney for libel. However, the spat between the footballers' wives has received backlash and the Good Morning Britain anchors chaired a discussion whether it was a waste of court time.
They were joined by Angie Best, who criticised the high profile case. She said: "Nowadays, everybody is very sensitive and they all have very large egos. Everybody is a celebrity and wants to be in the public eye - and, for me, they are getting a little carried away."
They were also joined by media barrister Jonathan Coad who argued Mrs Rooney and Mrs Vardy have the right to air their grievances in open court. The anchors were stunned when the lawyer estimated the cost on both sides will be around £1.5 million.
He added: "That will be a mix of barristers and solicitors. There is no way around it. I cannot deny that for media lawyers like me it is certainly like all your birthdays and Christmases rolled into one."
Ben agreed with the statement as a shocked Susanna said: "My goodness."
It is estimated the legal fees will greatly outweigh any damages awarded in the case, which will likely be around £40,000. Whoever wins the trial will get back around 70% of that bill, but figures shown on the ITV news programmes estimated they will still pay out around £300,000.
