Volkswagen returns to Grimsby with JCT600

Volkswagen is returning to Grimsby.

JCT600 is opening an approved used vehicle dealership alongside its long-standing Audi operation on Hewitts Business Park.

The latest addition to the motor village comes after Marshall withdrew from the town, consolidating its new and used sales in Scunthorpe.

Full after-sales care, including warranty work, will also be offered, with JCT600’s extensive workshop offering nine bays and an equal number of technicians.

Head of business, Steve Kirby, said: “We’re excited to be bringing Volkswagen back to Grimsby – renowned for quality and style, the brand is one of the most popular in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on our presence in the town with our established Audi dealership, giving customers even more choice of vehicles, all with the trusted JCT600 name behind them.

“As well as investing in Grimsby and creating more jobs here, we’re also pleased to be strengthening our relationship with Volkswagen after many years successfully representing the brand.”

Volkswagen imports into the UK through the town’s port, but the previous dealership, yards from where the vehicles first hit the road network, was closed in early 2022.

JCT600 has grown from a single dealership into one of the largest privately owned businesses. Headquartered on the outskirts of Leeds, it now has more than 50 dealerships, stretching beyond the home county into the North East, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. It now represents 23 of the world’s leading car marques and has a team of 2,300.

JCT600 bought the Audi dealership from Tony Brammall, who held onto the wider business park operation.

It is now home to several dealers with multiple marques, the latest arrivals being Subaru, Isuzu, MG and Suzuki, for Nunns and Read Motor Group. Vauxhall and Volvo dealerships from Wilson and Stoneacre have been long-term fixtures, with Read Hyundai and Trenton adding Nissan and Peugeot in the interim.

JCT said there were no plans for new Volkswagen sales at the site.
