Viewers vowed to watch BBC's Happy Valley over ITV's Love Island as their schedules clashed for the first time. The choice seemed an easy one for those sat in front of their TVs on Sunday night (January 22), opting for drama in the streets of West Yorkshire rather than in the sun-soaked villa.
Happy Valley hit screens for the fourth episode of the third and last season at 9pm on Sunday as the latest episode of Winter Love Island also aired at the same time over on ITV. It is the first time their schedules clashed, after Love Island brought more singletons back to the screen last Monday.
Fans of Happy Valley were eagerly awaiting the drama of the next episode to air, with Sarah Lancashire's Sgt Catherine Cawood continuing to question how she should deal with her grandson Ryan visiting his biological dad Tommy Lee Royce, who is behind bars.

And it seemed viewers favoured the hour-long drama over the sun-soaked love triangles over on ITV, with many taking to Twitter to share which of the two shows they would be watching - and the dramatic police drama certainly came out on top.
