Melbourne Victory's hopes of climbing off the bottom of the A-League Men table have been handed a boost by the acquisition of Bruce Kamau.

Kamau's return to Australia comes as struggling Sydney FC loaned former left back Joel King back from Danish side OB.

King moved to Denmark last year on a three-year deal but has fallen out of favour in recent months.

"Joel was part of the most successful Socceroos World Cup squad in history and has had more experience since he went overseas, so it's an excellent signing for us," said Sydney boss Steve Corica.

"He is a great addition and will provide more defensive cover at the business end of our season. I'm very happy to be bringing him home."

King is due to land in Sydney on Friday ahead of this weekend's game against the Central Coast Mariners.

Meanwhile, Kamau has also signed on loan from Greek first-division outfit OFI Crete until the end of the season.

"Bruce is a talented forward who has proved himself at A-League level and we're looking forward to bringing his experience and attributes into our side," said Victory head coach Tony Popovic.

"Bruce has spent some time in a European league to progress as a footballer and we believe the environment at Melbourne Victory will allow us to bring the best out of him."

Victory said Kamau, who previously played for Adelaide United, Melbourne City and the Western Sydney Wanderers, would be considered for selection against Wellington Phoenix on Friday.
