Uttarakhand: Met issues yellow alert for rainfall for 3 days, orange alert for June 29

DEHRADUN: While the monsoon is likely to reach Uttarakhand by June 27, weather experts have predicted a good spell of rain from Sunday.

According to the weather forecast, Kumaon hills would witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense and gusty winds in the range of 30-to-40 km per hour on Sunday. Also, several areas of the Kumaon and Garhwal region are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.

For June 27 and 28, heavy rainfall has been predicted in Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of the Kumaon region.

On June 29, heavy-to-very heavy rainfall is likely in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Champawat, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.

Weather experts have also not ruled out the possibilities of moderate landslides at isolated locations and the overflow of rivulets.

People who live near rivulets and streams have been advised to move to safer places. Travellers have also been asked to exercise caution and check weather updates before going to a place. Meanwhile, farmers have been asked to harvest their ripe crop and store it in a safe place.
