Home Bargains may not be the first place you would think of when doing a big food shop but many are now turning to the budget store to do their groceries. Their large stores are home to an array of chilled food, frozen food and rows of cupboard staples which are filled with bargains to be found.
Known for its very reasonable priced homeware, children's toys and garden products, the discount retailer is now taking on the likes of Asda, Tesco and Lidl with their food ranges. They stock branded and non-branded product lines and have three stores across Nottingham.
A reporter from Manchester Evening News went along to their local Home Bargains to see how possible it is to do a big shop there. For a start, a 1.2kg bag of apples was priced at £1, a 250g punnet of strawberries for just £1 and a 2kg bag of white potatoes for 69p.
