Donald Trump's administration is poised to escalate its pressure campaign against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, with plans to designate the Cartel de los Soles as a foreign terrorist organisation on Monday.
This entity, which the US government claims is led by Mr Maduro, is notably not considered a cartel in the traditional sense.
