US rescues one crew member after fighter jet shot down over Iran

  • One crew member has been rescued after Iran shot down a US fighter jet, according to reports.
  • The search continues for a second crew member amid reports that the pilot ejected from an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet, a two-person aircraft, when it was shot down over Iran.
  • The reported rescue comes after Iranian state television aired a statement urging civilians to capture the “enemy’s pilot or pilots” and hand them over to authorities in exchange for a reward.
  • Friday’s attack marks the first time Iran has downed a U.S. plane and the blow for the US came as Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel and the US are “continuing to crush the terrorist regime in Iran” in a meeting in Tel Aviv.
  • Trump has been pressuring Iran to make a deal to end the war but insisted Friday in a social media post that "with ⁠a ‌little more time, we ‌can easily ‌open the Hormuz Strait.”
