In the wake of widespread online claims that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was depicted by state media as being in “heaven” surrounded by 72 virgins following reports of his death, a viral image has circulated across social platforms.
Posts on X and other platforms allege that the image originated from official Iranian outlets and shows Khamenei in a paradisiacal garden surrounded by dozens of young girls in school uniforms and hijabs — interpreted by critics as a reference to the “72 virgins” concept associated in popular discourse with Islamic afterlife rewards.
