Unbeaten UFC star Ian Garry channels inner Conor McGregor after knockout win

Ian Garry celebrated his knockout win at UFC 285 by pulling off fellow countryman Conor McGregor's iconic 'billi strut'.

Garry, 25, knocked out Song Kenan in the third round to improve his unbeaten record to 11 fights. The Irishman looked sharp early on as he was beating Song to the punch, with the Irishman also having a slight size advantage over his opponent. Garry was controlling the opening round but just moments after landing a good left hook to the body of Song, the Irishman suffered the first knockdown of his UFC career as he was dropped by a big left hook.

The action was briefly halted in the second round when Garry landed an illegal kick to the groin of Song, ‘The Future’ had seemingly recovered well after being knocked down as he was popping Song’s head back with jabs. Garry started to find his rhythm in the second round as he was mixing up his punches to Song's body and head whilst adding some good kicks to his offence.

Fans were roaring in support of Garry when he put together his best sequence of the fight by backing up Song against the cage with a flurry of punches. Chants of “Garry” echoed around the T-Mobile Arena when the second round came to a close and it was still all up for grabs in the third stanza.

Song’s face was battered and bruised halfway through the final round as Garry was in cruise control, screaming "let’s go” as he was landing punches. A flurry from the Irishman knocked down Song and Garry followed with ground-and-pound shots, with referee Marc Goddard subsequently calling a stop to the fight.

Garry said after his win: “Everybody here deserves to be here, they're all amazing athletes. You have to be at the top of your game for every single minute of each round and if not s*** like that happens. I spoke to [McGregor] the other day and told him I put a lot of gameplan down to him. When you look up to the best in the sport you can learn so much. I’m learning I'm growing, I'm taking everybody out on the way. I tell you in the next couple of years, I’m having a belt wrapped on my waist.”

'The Future' told Mirror Fighting earlier this week that he wants to compete on the undercard of McGregor's UFC return against Michael Chandler later this year and is backing 'Notorious' to win the fight, despite being a teammate of Chandler's. "I've said this to the guys in the gym, I'm Team Conor every single day of the week," he said. McGregor was tuning in for Garry's fight and reacted to his win by tweeting: "Ian Garry you little DAISY!".
