Temperatures will continue to climb throughout the week with peak heat arriving at the weekend, say forecasters.
The scorching weather outlook comes as the second heatwave of the summer, while not as warm as last month's unprecedented 40C spell, it is expected to cause considerable problems in parts of the UK following record low rainfall.
Problems may come due to its longevity of the heat and its potential to cause wildfires on already dry ground, according to one former head of the Environment Agency.
