People give their bathrooms a ‘deep clean’ less than once a week and 14 percent admit they sometimes don’t even bother using cleaning products, a new UK poll revealed.
Many simply use water to rinse things and bathroom tissue rather than a sponge to wipe surfaces.
The research of 2,000 UK-based adults found they’re more likely to give their bathroom a cursory clean, taking around 10 minutes a time.
And 48 percent only pay the bathroom attention when they’ve got people coming over.
While 46 percent prefer to leave it for someone else in the house to do.
Hair around the sink (50 percent) and dirty mirrors (28 percent) are among the most common reasons people clean their bathrooms.
A spokesperson for Flash and Viakal, which commissioned the research, said: “Cleaning the bathroom can often be an overwhelming task, so we tend to put it off, which is why we have updated the Flash Spray Wipe Done formula.
“Just because something looks clean, particularly in the bathroom, certainly doesn’t mean it’s free of grime or other nasties.
“Unfortunately, it’s one of those areas of life where you can’t really get away with cutting corners. So using effective products to keep on top of it daily can help to ease the load.”
Despite having an aversion to cleaning, 38 percent love knowing their bathroom is free of germs once it’s done.
But only 10 percent actively enjoy the process of cleaning the space, although 34 percent like the feeling of reward afterward.
The residue around the toilet is what people dislike most about cleaning their bathroom (29 percent), while 25 percent detest the hair they have to remove.

Nearly a quarter hate dealing with limescale around the shower, and 12 percent don’t like the smell of cleaning products.
The bathroom cleaner’s worst nightmare, limescale, is also misunderstood by many, according to the data from OnePoll.
Four in 10 say they are not concerned by the issue, often found in areas with hard water.
Just over a tenth (11 percent) have replaced faucets as a result of limescale, and 15 percent have swapped their shower head.
And while 65 percent accurately guessed it is caused by hard water, 11 percent think it’s caused by clogged hairs.
One in ten even think they’ll struggle with it if they use too much shampoo in the bath or shower.
Flash and Viakal’s spokesperson added: “Limescale is bad news in the bathroom.
“It’s hard to clean, but it can also have an impact on your energy bills.
“The Carbon Trust found that a 1mm (0.0033 foot) layer of limescale means an extra 7 percent increase in energy is required to input to the boiler, to get the same heating result as a boiler free from limescale.
“This could cost the average household an extra £200 ($255 USD) per year in energy costs.
“But a weekly clean with the right products can help keep on top of this.”
