In a major healthcare shift, the UAE has approved Foundayo (orforglipron), a once-daily oral obesity pill developed by Eli Lilly. The decision by the Emirates Drug Establishment places the country among the first globally to introduce a needle-free alternative to injectable weight-loss treatments.
This approval comes as obesity is increasingly linked to serious long-term conditions, including Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. Foundayo's convenience is what makes it stand out. Unlike injectable GLP-1 drugs, it is taken as a simple daily pill and does not require strict timing around meals or water intake, making adherence easier for patients.
