Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk fight date to be confirmed with Wembley favourite to host

Tyson Fury’s heavyweight unification fight against Oleksandr Usyk is expected to be announced within the next week, with Wembley Stadium the frontrunner to host.

April 29 has long been earmarked as the date for Fury and Usyk to meet for the first time.

According to a source around the talks, “both parties really want it to happen” but terms have yet to be agreed between WBC champion Fury and Usyk, who holds the WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring belts.

The biggest stumbling block remains the splits for the two fighters with the Ukrainian pushing for a 50-50 share of the fight purse.

Fury’s camp, meanwhile, argue that the Briton deserves the lion’s share as the bigger draw of the pair in terms of his following.

There is still a danger that the proposed fight will be either be delayed or derailed as negotiations continue to drag on but both camps are hopeful a deal might be done within the next week.
