Tyson Fury beat Dillian Whyte at Wembley with a sixth round knockout on Saturday night to remain undefeated and retain his World Championship belts. After the fight, he appeared to confirm his retirement meaning that fans may never get to see the 33-year-old extend his record after Saturday night.
Fury turned professional in 2008 and has a record of 32-1-0, his only draw coming against Wilder in the first leg of their epic trilogy. He has had a much storied career, becoming world heavyweight champion in 2015 before a well documented battle with mental health took him away from the sport until his 2018 comeback and subsequently regaining his heavyweight crown once more.
Fury appeared to play down any prospect of a fight against heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk following his win over Whyte - sticking to his retirement stance - but wife Paris kept the door open for a unification fight when speaking to BT Sport after the contest: “I know in my heart the only reason Tyson would come back is for a unification fight,” Paris told BT Sport. “That would be the only reason because there’s nothing left for him.”.
