Two teenagers arrested after man, 23, stabbed to death on Isle of Dogs estate

Two teenagers aged 18 have been arrested after a young man was stabbed to death in east London.

Abdul Jalloh, 23, collapsed on New Union Close, Isle of Dogs, shortly after 4pm on Monday.

Mr Jalloh, who lived in the area, was treated at the scene.

Despite the efforts of London Ambulance Service, he died a short time later.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command detained the 18-year-olds on suspicion of murder on Thursday. Both remain in custody, a spokesman said.

Chief Superintendent Brigid Beehag-Fisher, who leads policing in Tower Hamlets and Hackney, said: “Even though two arrests have been made I do not underestimate the impact this has had on residents and the local community.

“We will continue to provide an enhanced policing presence over the coming days.”

A 16-year-old boy held on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation.

Mr Jalloh’s killing was one of two within a four-mile radius in 30 hours.Police are still hunting the gunman who shot dead a man in his early 30s in Weavers Fields park, off Wilmot Street, Bethnal Green at about 8.27pm on Tuesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, added: “We would like to thank those people who have spoken to officers, but would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area of New Union Close at the time of this incident, or anyone who has any information concerning this murder who hasn’t already spoken with officers.

“No matter how insignificant your information may seem, please do get in touch.”
